How are archived records updated in Salesforce?

When working with the data wizard you may filter on archived members. The key thing about Archived members, is that it works off the values within Salesforce - specifically Mailchimp_Member__c.Status__c = 'Archived'.  This value is updated as part of the primary sync which runs every hour by default.
