What is Mailchimp for Salesforce?

Do you support professional edition?

If you are using the professional edition (PE), you might see Salesforce has some limitations around it. However, we have successfully applied for “Aloha status”

In short, Aloha status allows a managed package to bypass certain feature limitations typically found in PE orgs. This is particularly important because Professional Edition does not support many advanced features — such as Apex code, additional custom objects, or API access — unless specifically enabled.

When a managed package has Aloha status (granted by Salesforce after a successful security review), it can:

• Workaround PE’s built-in limits (like a custom object or tab limits).

• Function normally without requiring the customer to upgrade editions or purchase additional API access.

• Provide a consistent experience similar to what users would expect in higher editions like Enterprise or Unlimited.

That said, it’s important to note that Aloha status does not grant API access. It just means our package (Mailchimp for Salesforce) will work.

How frequently is my data updated?

When managing data updates between Salesforce and Mailchimp, it’s important to consider the direction of the data flow. Here’s how our integration handles updates:

Salesforce to Mailchimp:

• Hourly Bulk Updates: Our data wizard can push data from Salesforce to Mailchimp in bulk, with updates occurring every hour. This ensures that your Mailchimp lists are regularly synchronized with the latest data from Salesforce.

• Instant Updates: With our field mappings feature, any changes made to Salesforce contacts or leads—created or edited—are instantly reflected in Mailchimp, keeping your audience data up-to-date in real time.

• Real-Time Invocable Actions: We also provide invocable actions that can be triggered via code or Salesforce flows, allowing for real-time updates to Mailchimp whenever specific conditions are met.

Mailchimp Data in Salesforce:

• Real-Time Insights: Our Lightning components offer real-time visibility into Mailchimp data directly within Salesforce. This includes audience membership and email tracking information, so you can monitor your campaigns without leaving Salesforce.

• Scheduled Syncs: The primary sync between Mailchimp and Salesforce runs every hour, ensuring that Mailchimp data is periodically stored and updated in Salesforce records.

Do you use webhooks?

Real-time stored data updates from Mailchimp to Salesforce typically rely on Webhooks. However, Webhooks are not the most secure method, and implementing them would require customers to set up additional configurations, which can complicate the integration and increase the likelihood of support issues. Avoiding real-time Webhooks keeps the integration straightforward and minimizes potential user complications.

Do you have access to our data?

Our product is a native Salesforce solution, seamlessly integrating into your Salesforce environment. It securely connects to Mailchimp via oAUTH, ensuring that data transfer between Salesforce and Mailchimp is handled through their secure APIs. Importantly, we do not have access to your data at any point.

Mailchimp for Salesforce is the integration between both Mailchimp and Salesforce. If you are new to Mailchimp, then it is essential that you are happy with how their application works. Amongst other things, Mailchimp's email solution will handle how you build your email templates and create and deliver your campaigns.

Our integration primarily moves data between Salesforce and Mailchimp. We make it easy for you to add your Salesforce records to Mailchimp's audience and keep them up to date. We also pull information from Mailchimp, like a person's subscriber status or email tracking history, from sent campaigns.

Pricing
Our integration is charged based on the number of active subscribers. An active subscriber is an email address in Mailchimp that is active (i.e., not unsubscribed, archived, bounced, etc.) We use that number against our tiered pricing model.
